3D Small heart pendant

I designed this pendant in a CAD/CAM class at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). CAD stands for “computer aided design” and CAM stands for “computer aided manufacturing.” The CAD program I used is Matrix and I rendered with V-Ray.

The following explanation will most likely only be understood by people who have knowledge of CAD. To make this pendant, I started with the lobe on the right (the right side of the heart) by drawing a curve with the control point curve in the looking down/top viewport. I put some profiles on the curve and used Surface Menu > Sweep 1 Rail. To make the left side of the heart, I mirrored the curve from the right to the left, put round brilliant cut gemstones on that left curve with Gems Menu > Gems on a Curve, gave those stones bezels with Settings Menu > Bezel Builder, and put prongs with Settings Menu > Prong Placer. The piece of the necklace that goes around the neck is not a chain. I made it by making several tube-like polysurfaces and twisting them using Transform Menu > Twist. Finally, I put a ground plane and rendered with V-Ray.
